Advice to all who get this. Strip off the dried blue stuff at the end of the bolts. This appears to be dried blue locktite. The purpose is supposedly to keep the bolts from being loose and backing out, but what it does instead is make it so hard to screw them in that it causes the inserts they are screwing in to to start turning, and you can't get the bolts tight.
This was so bad one of the bolts would not even get to the point where the lockwasher started to compress, and the insert came out with the bolt when trying to remove it for a second try.
If you strip off that blue stuff(locktite or whatever), you won't have this problem. If you are worried about the bolts backing out in spite of the lockwashers, then put some blue locktite on it and screw in the bolts immediately. That is how locktite IS SUPPOSED to be used, you put it on as a liquid and screw in the bolt, so it doesn't add any tension when screwing in the bolt.
Putting that or some other goop on and then letting it dry on the end of the bolt is like putting glue on. It just makes it really hard to screw in and does nothing for retention.
    I'm returning this item.

Comments about Living XL LivingXL® Extra-Wide Parsons Chair:

I bought this chair to use in my kitchen but it's almost too big for that purpose. I assembled it in about an hour with the tools supplied. It would have been easier if I had someone to help but it wasn't really very hard to assemble. It's too bulky to be considered an attractive chair but it seems to be sturdy enough to hold me (I'm over 350 pounds). For my taste, this is not a chair for the living room but I guess I could use it in a home office or a study.

Comments about Living XL LivingXL® Extra-Wide Parsons Chair:

It took over 6 hours to put 3 chairs together. The fourth one was wobbly - had to send it back. I got the new one pretty quickly. They are beautiful and GIANT. They are sturdy which is exactly what I needed. I just wish the assembly was not so difficult.

Comfy but a nightmare to assemble

Comments about Living XL LivingXL® Extra-Wide Parsons Chair:

I have arthritis in both knees & am no longer able to exercise. So of ccourse I've gaineed a lot of weight. I need a chair strong enough to support me while I work at my crafting business but also tall enough that I can get up afterwards. This chair does fulill those needs. It's also comfortable without being so soft that I sink in. I ordered the stripe, which is very attractive & fresh.
The reason I only gave this three stars is that this chair is a nightmare to assemble. Most larger pieces of furniture use metal rods & bolts. This manufacturer cut corners by sending cheap screws for the assembly. My husband -- who built furniture in his youth -- was uable to tighten the screws enough to attach the back to the seat. Two longer screws that come in from the sides therefore diidn't line up. He wound up getting a metal rod from the hardware store & cutting it to size. It's also fortunate I bought two of these, since a brace that goes under the seat actually broke while he was installing it. We used the one from the other chair. This is also a part that can be purchased at the hardware store, so we will have to do that for the other chair.
As a big, comfy, stable chair, I recommend this. But I would have someone with experience assemble it, & the first thing I would do is replace those screws!

Comments about Living XL LivingXL® Extra-Wide Parsons Chair:

First kudos to Living XL for getting the chair to me in 3 days. When i was assembling the chair I noticed that in the instructions it clearly said that there should be spring washers and standard washers, the spring washers were missing. I put the chair together then found out the round locking bolt to the "easy " lock screw on one of the legs just would not lock into place. The supplied allen wrench was fine but the Phillips mini driver supplied just was not up to the task of screwing the self tapping locking screws into place . I am going to try it for a couple of days and see if it holds up.

It is too easy to put the wrong legs in place. It causes the cam nuts to break.
The covering picks with the slightest snag. Not a chair to have with cats!
Cam work themselves out with use. Be sure to check them frequently.

If you look on-line or in the yellow pages, you will find a variety of services who will assemble furniture for you for a fee. I assembled my chair myself, but if I would not have been able to do it I would have asked family members or friends first and if that didn't work I would resort to one of the services for the help I needed.
